Seascape

This was painted from a spot tucked into a rock outcropping at Luffenholtz Beach Park in Humboldt County as the tide receded. At one point some fun loving Siberian Huskies arrived to chase each other in the sand (as they evaded their person). They reminded me of a long ago loved Husky who didn’t go into the surf either.

I had to move fast to capture the ephemeral nature of fog as it dissipates with the morning sun. This was painted at one of my favorite coastal spots in Half Moon Bay.

One of my favorite California coves on a day with calm seas and gentle breezes.

In this piece, I sought to convey a sense of sunshine on a humid day as this red sailed junk traversed Halong Bay amongst its distinctive rock formations.

I painted this studio piece of a place I love along the central California coast as a commissioned painting for a collector who had been attracted to my plein air painting of the scene.

The Sea Scout Ship Viking calls Aquatic Park home and in this piece San Francisco unfolds in sun and shadow patterns in the background. The red SSS Viking is the boat used by young Bay Area women Sea Scouts.

This painting is a personal favorite. It’s hanging in our living room. After month’s of corona virus shut down and painting backyard flowers. I painted this en plein air at a favorite Pescadero area beach with a friend I hadn’t seen in months. 10’+ apart and masked up. Still … so special to chat, paint and watch for off shore dolphins.

I love the Big Sur cliffs in Garrapata State Park. In this piece, I am chasing the feel of the fresh air and the sound of the surf.

Just love the patterns created by the surf in this small cove near Pigeon Point Lighthouse.

In a sea of white fiberglass at the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor, the “Kiwi Attitude” stands out.
